in-out, in-out, in-out....

and i never called...

(the in-out, refers to the show situation below, and the not calling is also explained)

yes, my punk rock new years was messed up. nothing really bad happened, but nothing really awesome happened either (other than the final band of the night). the first part of the night went more or less how i expected. dinner started late and there was much talking going on between me, HEW and blackmamba...and much drinking on blackmamba's part (HEW wasn't doing too bad either, but nowhere near mamba). we left for the show a little before 8pm, just as i planned. we got there, got in, and were kicked out less than a half an hour later. after sobering up the drunk of the party (who will remain unidentified for now, save that it wasn't me), we went back into the show and we had COMPLETLY MISSED the second act. THEN we got kicked out again, same culpret again after the third act, who sucked by the way, ( the same bouncer got us again, he had it out for us). thankfully the guy at the door let us go out and walk and get some water and come back for the final act, jello biafra and the melvins. they kicked ass and half way through the drunk member of our party decided to "go to the bathroom", but never show their face again. the final band started at midnight and did a really cool countdown. they also played an absolutly AWESOME set! after the show we couldn't find the missing party anywhere and so we ended up walking around cap hill for like an hour trying to find the person. goodtimes... actually, i didn't really mind at all. i thought it was a perfect night as far as summing up the year. good things and bad things happened all year, but the feeling of the night was right. the feeling was that of being in the middle. not mad, not happy, not bored, but content at just...being. enjoying life and missing the girl i love to share it with. i saw a great band and brought in the new year that way. we might have lost someone in the process, but,in the end, it was just me feeling like i had done what i wanted. nothing wrong with that.

after finding our missing party, we decided to hit beth's. by the time we got there, the drunken party was already asleep again. so, we went home, watched a little bit of a movie, made some food, and went to bed around 4:30 or so.

that's how i brought in my new year. and i managed to not point out who got drunk and caused the headaches for the night! sweet! oh, bobanna, i'm so sorry that i didn't call you to let you know my plans...however, i did post them. so you probably knew.

no reflection on 2004 in this post i think. that last year went by so fast that it's hard to feel like it's even over yet! let's just say that at this time last year i was substitute teaching, working at pizza hut and hanging out in upstate new york with jen...a year later, i'm back in washington, doing my student teaching which is the last part of my Master in Teaching program that i started last spring. a lot has happened in a year. 2004 was probably one of the most active years i've ever had! hopefully 2005 will be just as active without all of the moving away from loved ones. moving toward loved ones, now that i can live with...

this last week was my first week of student teaching and i had a great week getting back into the swing of things with my fifth graders! next week i start taking over the class little by little and i will soon be the full time boss...i mean teacher. it's a little daunting, but at the same time i'm really looking forward to it, it's a new adventure...to say the least.

alright, i'm done for now. i've written a TON. not bad for the first post of the year. i've noticed that the only posts that have been put out there lately have been political. to this i will say, let's just f-ing revote! washington is already looking like a joke, we need to save some face. voting in this country is becoming the joke of the world. oh, yeah, LOOK! We're getting Iraq to vote, but we can't even choose our own president without charges being brought up on tampering or whatever. WE CAN'T EVEN VOTE IN A NEW GOVENOR WITHOUT A PROBLEM NOW!!! i'm done. i've almost lost all faith in our system. so, once again, i'm going to observe our government from a distance, but i'm not gonna get emotional about it.

k, so i hope everyone is doing alright and i hope that you all had a great new years!

till next time, i'll have a strawberry smoothy...
