the words chris cornell sings...

never seem to add up to the ones inside his head...

the brilliant mind/voice who gave us: "spoonman", "rusty-cage", "birth ritual", "seasons"-from the movie 'singles', "the day i tried to live", "nothing to say" and COUNTLESS other true rock, if not 'alt-rock', classics has been slipping as of late. i heard that he did a solo album...? don't know much about it. But, i heard he collaborated with Timbaland to make this, and possibly more. and i can't say i'm sold on it. this guy is a rocker! what's this weird poppy stuff? even the sometimes lamented audioslave project still rocked...this? hm. i don't know. cornell is trying to pass this off as a psychedelic-type project. we'll see. i might get this just to give it a true chance. i'm into some strange kinds of music, like this, or this. (one of those should be a MAJOR blast from the past! the other, just odd.) i just might end up liking cornell's new album, but it'll be hard to beat classic chris cornell. (that song was a tribute to his dead friend who OD'd)

sorry about all the links, but, it'll be a good soundtrack to your day!

...seriously!

things i hate...

well, just one thing at the moment.

tripping the alarm for our house when i let the dogs out in the morning. damn. i HATE doing that! AND to make things even MORE awesome, our security company doesn't call the house, they just call the cops. NOW, i'm probably at fault for this, i probably should have called THEM to let them know it was a false alarm, but shouldn't they call THE HOUSE to see if everything's okay? again, i might be at fault for that one, weathergirl might have the contact number listed as her cell, since she always has that on her...but, still...damn morning alarms followed by police visits! that's happened to us twice this year! BOO! (one time was our "housesitter's" fault, so no biggie, but this time it was me.

in other news, today i will FINALLY be using the surfing lessons that weathergirl bought me for my twenty-seventh birthday...yes, it's taken OVER a year. i talked peej into taking a lesson with me, so we'll be out a the beach in santa monica all afternoon seeing if we can figure out how to stand up on waxed wood and let waves carry us to shore. i'll wait to make a final judgment, but i think i'll be into surfing. we'll see...

anyways...that is all.

i'm gonna eat some breakfast and do some cleaning. have a good day, all. and...as always,

rocksteady.

absence makes the reader grow...

disinterested?

totally. i understand.

well, for what it's worth, i'm back! ...again!

currently, i'm waiting for weathergirl to come back from a late night of work.

what have i been up to since i last posted? well, i think it was april the last time i updated this thing. so, a lot has happened.

i turned 28. that was a good time. weathergirl threw me a totally RAD birthday party and it involved going out to a place that's an adult version of chuck e. cheese's and getting totally loopy while watching an old hippie band called 'the screaming clams'! i hardly remember much after getting home and that's not normal for me, but it was a good time and it just solidifies weathergirls' dominance of the art of party planning!

i also finished up my third year of teaching and am now currently teaching summer school. i sign up for summer school every year 1. for the extra money, and 2. to actually DO something during the summers since i know weathergirl would LOSE IT if i just sat around on my ass all summer and hung out by my pool! (and who could blame her, right!?)

speaking of pools...i'm not winning the war with mine. due to a setback while we were on vacation, my pool is not in the greatest shape. i should be honest, it's never been in the "best" shape really. i've never owned a pool before and i'm still not quite sure about how to do all the things required to keep it up to par! it's never been up to par, even since before we bought the house! so, i'm probably going to be calling in a professional here any day now to make my pool work right.

sigh.

anyways, i know i could go on and on about the vacation that we took to CHINA(!!!!), but i could never do it the justice that weathergirl does in her blog. she was SO diligent about posting pictures and keeping all of our family and friends up to speed on what things were like in the far east that i could never express all the amazing things that we saw and did while we were there! for a MUCH better rundown of how my AMAZING trip with my darling wife went, check out her blog.

now for some events that are coming up...

well, summer school is almost half way over and the next big thing on the horizon is my 10 year high school reunion! i can't believe it's been TEN YEARS already! i know, people always say that. i actually CAN believe it's been that long, BUT the thing is that i can't believe that i'm actually ten years older. i don't feel like i'm ten years older...not yet, at least. whatever. it's gonna be a fun trip. peej, weathergirl and i will all be making the trek back up to the kenai peninsula in south central alaska to hang with fam, try out some of the "outstanding microbrews(??in my old hick hometown!???) ", and go to a few events planned by the members of our senior class who...surprise, surprise...still live there! i'm actually looking forward to this trip a great deal. i haven't been back to alaska in the summer time since 2001! and the last time i was there was in 2004 and it was winter, so i really didn't "see" much of anything except the snow that i've seen more than my share of in my life!

k. this has been a long post. i'm gonna head on off now and take a...nap? and wait for my wife to get home! then i get to go back to sleep and wake up and teach tomorrow!

woo! exciting life, right!?

OH, i'm gonna brew ANOTHER beer here soon too! it's probably gonna be a blonde ale. to date i've brewed a maibock (may-malt), an irish red, and a pale ale (that's really more of a double-bock and is REALLY STRONG, about 8-10%abv!!!). pretty rad that peej and i are brewing together now, he's really down with it and it's SO much easier brewing with two people! i'll open my microbrewery yet!

but, that's another post for another time...

peace out all,

and stay tuned.
