killing nancy and sara...

no matter which way you go...

i know, i know. i just keep disappearing! well, i'm back ya'll...and i'm black ya'll. (CB4 anyone?)

k, so lots has been going on. this last weekend was so great on many different levels. i saw some AWESOME bands, i got together with friends i have not seen in forever, and i got to be back in seattle for a while. I also got to play football on saturday, and went out the night before...but i'm getting ahead of myself.

friday was a pretty cool day. sometime around 5pm-ish i went to the Olympia Art Walk with my mom. i love the art walk, it's so cool. lots of local artists and performers. after seeing some of the sights my mom and i headed back home. HEW was on his way down and he got kind of a late start, but it actually worked to our advantage. we drove down town and hit the streets looking for the fight of our lives. after grabbing some food at King Solomon’s Reef we walked around aimlessly for a while then ran into a guy from my cohort. he knew a guy whose band was playing at the 4th ave tavern. so, after some thought and walking, HEW and i ended up there too. it turned out that i knew the guy in the band too. the band was tracing 8 and they were pretty damn good. the lead singer had kind of a gwen stefani thing going for her, not too bad. after that band was done, a metalica wannabe band came out for the closing act of the night. i could only handle a couple of songs from those guys so we split soon after their set started.

saturday was cool. i played in my third football game of the season and the South Sound Shockers are now 3-0! We are also ranked #8 in the Far West Conference of the Minor League Football Association polls! That's pretty crazy for a team that is playing as an independent! we'll be traveling to Omak, WA this weekend to play the Okanogan Commandos again. road trip game, those are always rough.

after the game HEW and I headed back up to Seattle where we eventually ended up hanging out with Austin Tucker and Henry at our old haunt...Ballard All Night Bowl's Sunsetter Lounge. we went in and drank some drinks, rocked the place with some karaoke, and made fun of the people who bugged Henry! it was a great time and i really miss hanging out with austin it was nice to hang out again! We pretty much closed that place down and called it a night...oh! after a trip to Beth's Cafe. (but, isn't that just assumed anymore?)

sunday was the day of the Killers show. HEW and i spent a good part of the morning watching videos off of the itunes website. after watching a couple of the videos of Tegan and Sara i was REALLY looking forward to seeing them later!

when HEW and I left for the show we ended up getting there nice and early, so we had a little time to kill. well, we went on a quest for a bar close to the Moore Theater. we walked FOREVER down one road to find ANY bar and at this point we both had to use the facilities. so, we ended up finding THE MOST seedy bar in all of Seattle! it was great! we were the only ones there under...oh, about 45 or so. it only had one beer on tap...pbr. so, we sat had a pint of pabst and then headed on off to see the killers.

the show was amazing. Tegan and Sara opened and they were unbelievable! i must have their record. they were so great live. the crowd was really good too, surprisingly. there were a lot of young-uns, but that's not really bad at all. if anything, it's encouraging. the killers came out and totally rocked the place into the ground. it was a great night and a great concert!

after the show, i got a call from Bug and she told us to come and meet up with she and her wife at finn-macools (sp) on the ave. so, off we went, the prospect of half price beers was just too tempting. we went, said hi, hung out for a while, then headed on out. i had a dentist appointment on monday morning at 10-ish and HEW had to work in the morning. so, we said our goodbyes and peaced on out of there.

it was a great weekend. thanks goes out to HEW for helping facilitate it! at some point i'd still like to get everyone together at the same place at the same time! and i mean everyone!

okay, well. not much else to report. the killers concert was awesome! i hope maroon 5 kicks some ass for you this weekend bobanna!

everyone check your calendars and think of ideas for getting the whole troupe together!

miss you all and hope you're all doing well!

till next time...

i remain as always,

today was my educator's job fair. it wasn't all it was hyped up to be. it wasn't a total bust either. i got some good leads on some jobs and i was close to getting an interview with seattle school district. i did have a nice long talk with the aberdeen school district about teaching music and a few other core classes there. can't help but think of how cool it might be to teach music in kurt's hometown. i'd be lying if i said i wasn't considering that.

okay, speaking of music...HOLY SHIT. you all MUST check out THE END's line up for ENDFEST 05, it's pretty sweet...it's, it's incredible

i'm done waiting...

for my real life to begin...

changes run abound. this weekend was crazy. it started for me on thursday. thursday morning i ran up to seattle to meet with bug and show her the ring. after that i drove back to the airport to pick jen up. we drove up to annacortes, through really crappy weather, and got on the ferry to go to Friday Harbor....

hmm...

the rest of the story, i think, can be discussed over beer and face to face with whomever wants to hear it. needless to say it was a picture perfect weekend and i am now on the wedding trail. jenny and i are now engaged. life is good, and i am a happy and lucky guy. i could go on and on about love and how much better things are and will be now...but, you can all see that when i see you next...it shows, and i'm such a nerd!

life is rolling along pretty fast now. i'm mostly done with school, i have an educators' job fair to attend on tuesday. a party at "Sluggers" in woodenville on wednesday. and to top it all off i need to finish my placement file and get myself in the substitute teacher rotation here in the oly area! with some luck, after the job fair i will have a teaching job set up for next fall and then i'll really be rolling. for everyone who is interested in where i'll end up, here are the places i'll check in to...

-Clark County School District(Los Vegas)
-Los Angeles Unified School District(duh)
-Seattle School District
-Tumwater School District
-Olympia School District
-Hawaii Schools
-anyone else who's looking

so, there you go. i'll try to stay local, but it might be easier to go to LA right off the bat. i don't know. i've never got a full time teaching job before. we'll see. i'll never be gone from the pac-northwest long though, rest assured of that.

well, there's a little update for you all. questions? comments? please feel free to let me know what you think. i'm happy, life actually seems to be starting. crazy shit, huh?

'till next time...

send me good thoughts on tuesday!

...a very happy and hopeful,

April, 5th 1994

where were you when you found out Kurt died?

i had just got home from school. i was in 8th grade. for some reason, me and my two best friends all went to my house after school that day. we came in, went downstairs to turn on mtv (cause it was still cool in 1994) and watched kurt loder (who looked like he had been crying) tell the world that kurt had been found dead in his home in seattle. we were shocked. no idea what to do. we all liked nirvana, and kurt was a hero to all of us in some way. we broke out Nevermind and blasted it as loud as we could. no smiles, we just jumped around and trashed my basement. we didn't know what to do. we found some cool pictures and made a little shrine in my hidden room underneath the stairs, we lit some candles. what else was there? we watched the tv and soaked up all the information we could about his "self-inflicted gun wound". we knew that kurt had been having trouble with heroin and his stomach and we figured that that was why he ended it, it seemed to make sense. drastic, yes, but kurt was a crazy guy. it took me a long time to actually come around to nirvana. i liked Nevermind, and i liked the song Sliver. as many of you know i'm a big nirvana history buff now and i have read several books on the band. i have my suspicions about his death. but, today it'd be a good thing for us to remember his life. the music he left, it's suprisingly good once you have a real listen and understand where this guy was coming from.

so, that's my post for the day. or, at least my subject for right now. where were you when you found out kurt cobain died? or, did it not really mean that much to you? for me kurt was a screaming voice of my youth that stopped all to suddenly, and left me with a feeling of...well...what now?

take a second today and listen to at least one nirvana song. the end is playing them all day long, amonst other songs. they're taking today, the actual day of kurts' death, and using it as a day to remember. i think i'll join them.

peace, love, empathy,

don't call it a comeback...

no, he's not dead...

hey all. yes, i'm back. it's been too long. unlike the rest of the people who read this, i tend to not post as much when i get stressed and i have a lot going on. well, i still have a lot going on, but the stress is much less than it has been in a long time. i'm not done with my masters just yet, but i'm one step closer. i'm in the final stages. soon, i'll be out in the workforce, substitute teaching and having a good time doing what i've been taught to do for almost a year now. it's about damn time.

so, how's things? funny you should ask. okay, so, as HEW mentioned, a couple weeks ago i had my first football game since october 3rd, 1997. i played more in that one game than i played my entire senior year. my coach my senior year was an asshole, i rode the bench for the most part. but, at this game i even got to run the ball. i ran for a first down and got the closest anyone on either offensive sides got to the goalline. i took the ball down to the four yard line, only to have a reciever get a 15 yard penalty the next play. our defense won the game for us, scoring twice with our kicker doing the rest of the job. the final score was your South Sound Shockers 16, the Umpqua Valley Knights 0. a shutout for our first game ever, not too bad. our next game will be here in oly i hope, maybe then some of you guys can come and watch. it's a lot of fun.

i have been a hermit these last few weeks and i have not gone out in such a long time! there are a TON of concerts coming and the clouds are parting for me and soon i will be back up there in the city that i love having the time of my life. i think that the time has come for us to all get together. i've said this before and have recieved little responce. but, i want to get together and totally throw down like we did so many times over this last year of mine. which means that dancing is a must, and karaoke is a definite possibility! the whole tribe needs to come! i say last year of mine speaking of my academic year (spring to spring). i need to put this year to bed, and i intend on doing it in grand style. this weekend is pretty much spoken for, but april is the month for us all to get back into the groove. i need to live it up before i turn 25!!! the quarter-century mark is on the way and i refuse to go quietly into the night.

so, major changes are coming. those of you who have stayed in touch know exactly what i'm talking about. those of you who don't, well...ask a friend.

needless to say, i miss you guys and i'll be back in seattle soon. my phones still work and i'm usually down for a good conversation! i hope everyone had a great st. patricks' day (i was working on my projects and had school the next day) and i hope that all travels went well. wish me luck on my travels this week!

till next time...

there is a light at the end of the tunnel and this time it's not the train...
